Dusk (O’Connell Street)

Tourists hunt ghosts
Along the stopstart streets as
Traffic stacks zigzags, black
Statues sap light
and heat.

Sirens and rain;
The glare of a take-away;
Disposable chains.
Buildings are shadows,
are 1916.

Larkin’s hands fill with rain.
